VORTEX
NERF Projectile/Blasters, Hasbro Toys
Vortex is project I worked on for Hasbro to develop a new, high-performance projectile and Launching mechanism for the NERF team.
At the time, NERF’s Dart Blasters had a performance somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 ft.
The design brief was for a disc-shaped projectile that would fire 60ft in a straight line... and pass safety testing.
DISC TESTING MATRIX, "CAPPED RING"
DISC TESTING MATRIX, "RING"
DISC TESTING MATRIX, "SOLID"
OVER 50 VARIATIONS ON MATERIAL AND GEOMETRY WERE TESTED TO ACHEIVE THE FINAL PRODUCT.
Tools/Skills- Solidworks, Testing/Design of experiments, Data acquisition & analysis, Asia vendor management
THE FINAL DISC DESIGN SURPASSED THE PERFORMANCE GOALS OF "60 FT IN A STRAIGHT LINE" BY ALMOST TWICE THAT.
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS, REIGNED IN THE PERFORMANCE BACK TO 60 FT.
